Preparing Your Quilt

Preparing your quilt properly helps ensure the best results when it’s time for quilting. Don’t worry — I’m not the quilt police! These are simply guidelines to help your quilt look its best. Perfection isn’t expected — just do your best, and I’ll take care of the rest.

Your backing and batting must be at least 4 inches larger than your quilt top on all sides (8 inches total in both width and length).
I use the same thread color on the top and in the bobbin, so keep this in mind when choosing your backing fabric.
Press and neatly fold your quilt top and backing before sending or dropping them off.
If your backing is pieced, please press the seams open to reduce bulk.
Trim any loose threads on your quilt top — dark threads can show through light fabrics once quilted.
If your quilt or backing is directional, mark the top edge with a safety pin.
Borders that do not lay flat may cause tucks or pleats in the final quilt — check your borders before submitting.

If your quilt needs squared, trimming threads, stitching open seams, & ironing/pressing. $25 (1 hr minimum)

Edge-to-Edge Quilting

Rate: $0.025 per square inch ($50 minimum)

Perfect for everyday quilts, this style offers a continuous design that runs seamlessly across the entire quilt top.

Choose from stippling, meandering, feathers, loops, pantographs, or most digital quilting designs.

Custom Quilting

Rate: Starting at $0.06 per square inch and up

Ideal for heirloom or show quilts, custom quilting enhances the individuality of each block and border with detailed designs and special attention to every section.

Binding Options

Full Binding (Machine-Finished) $0.25 per linear inch
Includes trimming the quilt, preparing and attaching the binding by machine to both front and back for a sturdy, fully machine-stitched finish.

Half Binding $0.15 per linear inch
Includes preparing and attaching the binding by machine to the top only (you finish it yourself).

Machine-Only Binding $0.10 per linear inch
Make binding and machine-sew it to the front of the quilt (customer provides fabric).

Payment

Cash or Check ($25 returned check fee)

Credit card, PayPal, or Venmo (add 3%)

Quilts must be picked up and paid for within 30 day of notice of completion.

A charge equal to 2% of the total bill will be added per week for storage of quilts left after
30 days. After 6 months, quilts will be considered the property of Pink Chicken Quilting and will be sold to recoup the quilting fee.
